The Democratic Alliance is appalled by the actions of SASCO on the DUT PMB campus, which has seen DASO (Democratic Alliance Student Organisation) posters being torn down. Not only does this demonstrate the usual levels of political intolerance from the ANC and its structures but it points to something far more tangible, which is the DA’s unrelenting growth.

The Democratic Alliance is the only Party that has grown in the past three consecutive National/Provincial Elections, against the backdrop of the ANC declining in the last election. The subsequent divisions in the ANC have taken place against the unity and strength of the DA.

These issues have led to the ruling Party, and its structures like SASCO, becoming more and more threatened by the Democratic Alliance and most recently DASO, which has emerged as a force to be reckoned with on KZN campuses.

It also demonstrates that the ANC does not hold its sub-structures to account and exercise real management of their behaviour. The Democratic Alliance is of the firm view that the DAY (Democratic Alliance Youth) and DASO are structures of the Party and must be held accountable as such and their exemplary behaviour throughout their campaigns bears testimony to this.

The Democratic Alliance and its structures, will not be intimidated and will continue to spread the message of a real political alternative to the ruling Party and the realisation of the Open Opportunity Society for All in South Africa.
