The DA Youth supports the right of ANC YL members to protest; however, any action must be conducted within the confines of the law. If the law is broken and damage inflicted on either people or property in Johannesburg today, the perpetrators must be arrested and held to account. The leadership of the Youth League needs to take all steps necessary to ensure that its members act within the law, and the authorities should take swift action against those who are caught breaking it.

This is a very significant day for South Africa. Behaviour such as this not only impacts negatively on economic investment, but gives cause for concern on the direction in which the ANC is headed. If the violence witnessed in Johannesburg’s city centre today characterises the kind of behaviour that leaders such as Julius Malema represent, and if he is not held to account by the ANC, South Africans should be very concerned about the quality of potential leaders who might emerge from the ANC’s 2012 congress.

  • Firstly Protests in South Africa have always been this way. Its just how it is. If you look back to when freedom was objective, it was done in the exact same manner. They have been fighting for freedom for over 300 years and the way they protest is a result of this, its just how they do it. I am not defending them, but you have to look at there history and culture before you judge.

Secondly, i COMPLETELY agree with the argument that Malema has raised. For the first time i stand by him 100%. He does NOT want European countries getting involved with Africa and poorer nations (WAR AND DEATH). There are two types of business in the world, the business of Peace, and the business of War. Europe and America are doing what they have been doing for centuries. Taking controll of poorer nations were there is money to be made and resources to mine.

in the 18th & 19th century they went to india, australia, africa and they stripped those nations. Gold uranium silver tin diamonds you name it. they confused the languages of these ancient nations, they enginered several wars, they poisoned the land the minds of the people, shipped back there raw materials created the stock market system, and made themselves very wealthy.

Because South Africa is the leader of the AU, the UN needed our go ahead to approve the bombing of Lybia. South Africa is being influenced (controlled?) by the Europeans (America and Britain) and Maleme does NOT agree with this and neither do I. Zuma initially refused, but was somehow “convinced”…..

DA YOUTH. YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING AT THE BIGGER PICTURE! “impacts negatively on economic investment” WHO CARES!!! FEED THE POOR AND STOP MAKING THE RICH EVEN RICHER!!!

  • the ancyl is a insult to those people who fought for democracy, mr malema is a power hungry man who should be throw out of politics and the sad part is the youth that have a sheeps brain follow without any thought, revolution what the hell is the man talking about, the revolution is over and many very brave people lost their youth and in extreme instances lost there lives, how long did Madiba Oliver tambo Goven Steve and the likes gave their youth to get us to where we are, and since malema arrived apartheid in reverse is back how very very sad.
I love the DA youth ,have grace poise and the people at heart.
It is so sad to see the disrespect of elders in the anc. They should throw malema out

  • Precisely Makashule, the city of joburg shouldn’t be destructed by unethical practices. Again,

  • I fully agree!

  • if this is malema’s legacy then i don’t know what is to become of today’s youth.
